A Smart New Hypervolt EV Charger Installation in Shepton Mallet ⚡🚗
I've recently been over to Shepton Mallet to install a Hypervolt EV charger for a customer, and it's one of those products that makes you realise how much more interesting home charging has become!
Yes, it's there to charge your electric car, but there's quite a bit more to it than simply plugging in and waiting for the battery to fill up!
A charger with a bit of personality
One of the first things you'll notice about the Hypervolt is its illuminated lightning bolt.
It's a smart-looking bit of kit, but the fun part is that you can personalise the lighting. You can change the brightness and choose different lighting effects, including a rather entertaining party mode.
Not exactly essential for charging your car, I'll admit, but it's a nice touch. And if you're going to have something permanently fitted to the outside of your house, it might as well look good!

Control your charging from the sofa
The Hypervolt has a handy smartphone app that lets you see what's happening with your charging without having to go outside.
You can check how much energy you've used, keep an eye on charging costs and adjust your settings.
You can even schedule your charging to take advantage of cheaper overnight electricity rates, depending on your tariff.
So, rather than having to remember to charge at the right time, you can plug in when you get home and let the charger take care of things.
That's my sort of technology — clever enough to make life easier without making things complicated.
Charging your car with sunshine ☀️
Here's another feature I particularly like.
If you've got solar panels at home, a suitably configured Hypervolt can make use of surplus electricity generated by them to charge your car.
Imagine a sunny afternoon in Somerset, with your solar panels helping to put miles into your car for your next journey.
It's a rather satisfying idea, isn't it?
And with the right charging settings, you can prioritise using your own solar energy rather than buying electricity from the grid.
Keeping track of what you're spending
One of the questions people understandably ask about electric cars is how much they cost to charge.
The Hypervolt app helps take the guesswork out of it by showing your energy usage and estimated charging costs based on your electricity tariff settings.
It's useful information to have, particularly if you're trying to work out how much you're saving compared with running a petrol or diesel car.
A tidy installation matters too
Of course, the clever features are only part of the story.
For me, a good EV charger installation is also about making sure everything is safe, properly installed and neatly finished.
I always aim to leave customers with an installation that looks right on their property, along with a clear explanation of how everything works.
After all, you shouldn't need an electrical engineering degree to charge your car!
