If you’ve ever watched a tradesman rummaging through the back of their van for the right fitting or tool, you’ll know – it’s not a good look. It wastes time, slows the job down, and frankly… it’s stressful.
That’s why I’ve just spent the weekend fitting proper racking in the van. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a while, and now that it’s in, I can already feel the difference.
🛠️ Why bother 'Getting Organised'?
To me, being organised isn’t about looking tidy for the sake of it. It’s about:
✅ Getting to the job and cracking on, not faffing around
✅ Knowing exactly what stock I’ve got and what needs restocking
✅ Keeping your home or driveway tidy while I’m working
✅ Finishing quicker, cleaner, and with less stress for everyone
Basically, I want to spend my time doing quality electrical work and getting organised is really going to help with this — not playing Tetris with tool bags and junction boxes - and I am not joking when I say it was absolutely like this before I installed this new racking system!!
🔧 A small change with a big impact
I went for a modular Bott racking system – solid shelves, labelled bins, dedicated space for tools, fixings and cable. Here’s a peek inside:
