It might not feel like it just yet, but summer’s on its way (it really really doesn’t feel like it!!) – and now’s the perfect time to start getting your garden sorted.
Whether you're planning a few BBQs, want to add some lighting to the patio, or you’ve got grand plans for a hot tub (depends on the type of Hot Tub! Some will require a new circuit from your Consumer Unit… but I can do this too!) or outdoor bar, one thing makes life a lot easier: a proper, weatherproof outdoor socket.

Why install an outdoor socket?
Most people don’t think about electrics until they really need them. But if you’re running extension leads out of windows or doors every time you want to mow the lawn or plug in the fairy lights, you’re not alone. It’s something I see all the time – and while it might do the job short-term, it’s not ideal. So that's why you should get your garden summer ready with outdoor sockets!
Here’s why a weatherproof outdoor socket is a smart upgrade:
Safety – No more cables trailing through open windows or doors. Outdoor sockets are designed to handle the British weather (yes, even our rainstorms). If there’s no RCD protection, when there should be, this will be provided!!
Convenience – You can plug in garden tools, lighting, speakers, or even charge your electric car without faffing about.
Tidier setup – No need for tangled leads or dodgy workarounds. Everything’s neat, secure, and out of the way.
What sort of outdoor socket should you get?
I fit sockets that are fully IP66 rated, which means they’re waterproof and tough enough to withstand the elements all year round. You can have a standard single or double socket, or even a switched fused spur if you’ve got something specific in mind (like a permanent garden feature or water pump).
If you’re planning more ambitious outdoor projects, like a garden office or lighting system, I can also run dedicated power supplies out to sheds, cabins, or pergolas.
Planning ahead = less stress later
A lot of people leave electrical stuff to the last minute, right before a party or when something breaks. But getting it sorted now means it’s all ready when the sun does finally decide to show up. No stress, no rush – and no disappointment when your garden lights won’t switch on just as guests are arriving.
Outdoor electrics don’t have to be complicated – it just needs doing properly. Give me a shout if you’re thinking about summer upgrades, and we’ll get your garden powered up and ready to go.
